WEBGL METAVERSE PROTOTYPE

case study

Problem

Everyone is talking about metaverse, and wanted to have a prototype that can be used to show something promising. A client wanted a prototype school environment that can also be used to sell items, be it NFT, or physical products that will be linked to e-commerce websites. And need everything to be done in 2 weeks!

Solution & Impact

  • WebGL
  • Mixamo

This project was done on Playcanvas. It was actually done as a backup solution to the one actually developed by my team using Unity game engine.  I wanted to see how far I can go with the browser based  WebGL game engine, and I was kind of impressed with what we can do with it.  The client wanted to have some characters to be included in the prototype – so we got some from Mixamo along with the pre-built animations.

My Role

  • Concept Artist
  • Project Manager
  • User Experience

I prepared some images based on metaverse idea and discussed them with my client. Many good looking images came out of Facebook Horizon, so I drafted the interior of the classroom based on that, and collected images of “wooden cabins” for the exterior. I worked closely with the 3D artist in creating the environment, and coded the navigation and interaction logic, as well as the animation.
