In a blink of an eye

case study

Problem

As we go through our life everyday, we seldom think about how our action and inaction can affect the world we live in. Most of the effect already happening to the world seemed so distant, and whatever already happening might happen in small doses that we can tolerate. There is a need to raise awareness about how the world will keep changing for the worst, faster than we can imagine.

Solution & Impact

  • SparkAR Studio
  • ChatGPT
  • Stable Diffusion

This project was done in collaboration with Mr. Syafiq Alia’m from Groundzero Studio.  The system was developed on SparkAR Studio and deployed on a Windows machine. The interactions and person segmentation employed in the system is native to SparkAR, while the contents were developed by communicating with ChatGPT to come up with prompts to generate images that answer the question “What will happen, if we as human do not see the error of our ways and let things as it is?”  The resulting answer was used to generate a set of images using Stable Diffusion 1.5 which consist of imagery of disasters such as flood, forest fires and so on. Ultimately the system was packaged inside a “stage” built by Groundzero Studio to transport the user into becoming the actor on stage, and when they blink, the world behind them changes in an instant!

My Role

  • Programmer
  • Animator
  • Graphic Designer

I generated the prompts using ChatGPT, generate the images using Stable Diffusion and implemented it in the Spark AR Studio to deploy it as a standalone interactive installation. Animated the part where the curtain opens once it detects user nearby, and programming the logic on blinking the eyes to change the background.
